There are a plethora of recipes that reflect these wideranging tastes and cultural differences. Nachos can be prepared as they were intended traditionally or they can accompany the local cuisines of any country they are available in.

Quick and easy Nacho's

This is an awesome simple recipe You can prepare quickly in 15 minutes. Its a hearty meal in its own right it serves between 4-6 people.


Some Primo Kiwi Nachos!!

  • 500g lean lamb or beef mince
  • 420g can Wattie's Mild Chilli Beans
  • Aztec Nacho Cheese Corn Chips
  • Aztec Nacho Cheese Corn Chips
  • 1/2 cup lite sour cream, optional

In a non-stick pan, heat a dash of oil and brown mince in batches.

  1. Return mince to the pan, add Wattie’s Mild Chilli Beans and Wattie’s Mexican Style Tomatoes to the mince. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Place corn chips into individual bowls, spoon over nacho mince. Sprinkle the cheese on top. Place under a hot grill to melt.

  4. Top with sour cream and chopped chives if you wish. Serve with a salsa or fresh green salad.

A most delicious recipe

Here is a popular mexican meal prepared in a New Zealand style it is a favourite of many Kiwis. Made with many Fresh ingredients this meal will satisfy most tastes. Here is a meal that when prepared looks beautiful while being straight forward to prepare.

  • feeds between 4-6 people
  • Preperation time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking time: 20 minutes

  • 500g lean beef mince
1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 400g can Wattie’s Mexican Spiced Tomatoes
420g can Wattie's Mild Chilli Beans
  • 170g pkt Doritos Salted Corn Chips
1/2 cup grated Edam cheese
  • 1 avocado, peeled and mashed
  • 1 tsp diced chilli
1 small tomato, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
lemon or lime juice
Preparation and Cooking:

1. Heat a dash of oil in a non-stick frying pan and add mince and brown, this is best done in two batches. Add the onion and pan-fry for a few minutes. Add the Wattie’s Mexican Spiced Tomatoes and Wattie’s Mild Chilli Beans and cook for a further 5 minutes.

2. Pour the mince mixture into a flat oven proof dish and scatter over the Doritos . Sprinkle over the grated cheese and place in an oven preheated to 180°C and fan bake for 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.

3. Make the guacamole by mixing all the ingredients together and adding lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
